  • Mom's Visa got rejected - Chennai consulate

My mother applied for US Visitor's Visa yesterday
(Nov 20th)and got rejected. The reason being she is a widow and I am the only child, so Chennai Consulate rejected her visa because she could be a potential US immigrant.
She gets pension and owns a house.Consular officer didn't see any of her property documents and rejected based on the following questions:

    1. How long will you stay in US?
    2. How many kids you have?
    3. When did your husband pass away?
    4. Are you living alone?

I want to attempt one more time.
Letter from Senator - will it help?
    Any suggestions..

    Thanks

        Visitor visa - second time

        Hi,
My parent's visitor visa was approved the second time last week. They are coming here for my grauduation, so letter from the University helped.
Senator's letter was not helpful for me.

        Thanks.

Very Happy to hear that your parents got the visa the second time.

Hopefully my parents also will get when they go for their second interview.

can you let me know what were the questions asked when they visited the second time.

            2nd time visa

            Here are the questions:

            Q. Why do you want to go right now?
            A. My daugher's graduation. Answer supported with a letter from university

            Q. How long?
            A. 3 months. Answer supported with an NOC from my dad's employer.

Form my parent's experience so far we have found that keep your answers precise and try to support every answer with a document. Also, make sure you ask for smgthg reasonable like 2/3 months and single entry (if asked by the visa officer) and have a genuine explaination for every answer of yours.

In the end, if they do not have any document, request the officer for a 24 hour timeframe to produce that document. (This has helped some people in the past)

            Hope this is helpful!
