Visitor's visa for 33 year old brother

1)I have a green card. I am having a surgery & need nursing care for couple of days in US. I have the letter from the hospital stating my condition. Will this help to get a visitor visa for my brother?
2) He is married & has a kid. But he does not have a marriage certificate & birth certificate for the kid. What else can he use to prove the marriage & parenthood? BTW he is coming by himself for visit.
3) If you go in person in Mumbai VFS. How long is it taking to get an appoinment for interview? Is the next day appoinment available?

Any comments/tips will be highly appreciated...

Hi,

I was in a similiar situation last year, my brother got a brain hammorage storke last year and I desperately wanted to be there with him as he was operated and was in need of care, but when I stated this reason to visit him at the consulate I was REFUSED - saying that "US Embassy does not Issue Visas on humanitarian grounds". I had my marriage certificate...not once but I was rejected 2 times....once my wife and I had applied....Rejected...next I applied alone...Rejeceted...now I am in a fix as to wether to apply for the third time or not...and if i do what should I tell the consular about my 2 rejections...!!

So be carefull...this not my suggestion, its an experience that I had so I am sharing it with you...

1. It may help. It is generally quite difficult to get visitors visa for young person. However, I know of a case where the person in US had 12 hour brain surgery and his brother was issued visa.

2. Marriage photos, invitation card etc. Marriage certificate etc. are not too important in this case as his wife is not sponsoring this.

3. You have to check with VFS.
