B1 visa Relation to B2

Hi,

I am on h1 visa and i am trying to get a visitor visa(b2) for my parents. My father has his business visa(b1) valid untill 2012 and when he went to pay the bank draft in india for Visa interview dates they mentioned that he can use his b1 visa as visitor visa as long as it is valid as were reluctant to give him a interview date.

I was hoping if any of one can validate this statement. can i get make my father get a visitor visa (b2) even though his b1 is valid for another 3 years. Are these 2 visas connected ?

Any suggestions/ advice appreciated.

Does it say B1 visa?

Or does it say B1/B2 visa?

it says B1/B2 visa.

And if i process the B2 visa only for my mother, do i put only her name in the all the Invitation letters etc, and in I 134 should I or should i not put my father's name in the "Name of spouse and children accompanying or following to join person" as he will not be going for visa stamping as be already has B1/B2 visa.

Please Advice.
