last time my mom became nervous and forgot my company name...
This time she did thorough preparation

Initially only I sponsored..the next time my husband and I both had sponsored..since there had to be some change in the application
VO asked a lot about both of us ..our visa/passport/companies..

US visa for my recently widowed mom

      Hi all,

I am planning to apply for a US tourist visa for my mother in August. I would like to know what all documentation/questions should I be prepared for??

A little background abt my mom and her planned trip to the US... My mom is not employed; widowed abt a year back; pension not yet started. So, no income of her yet. Me, my husband and my mom live together. My brother lives in the US (Florida) and is working for the past few months (before which he has been there for 2-3 years doing his Masters.

Since my mom is a widow, I was told that I need to get a net worth certificate showing all the assets under her name.

      1) How much property worth do we need to show on her name?
      2) Apart from the photos, DS forms and other regular documentation, what other documents should my mom carry?
      3) Will it help her case that she is going to continue to live with me in India and I am married and working in India itself? To that effect, should I produce my IT returns etc??
      4) How much bank balance should I show? Or if my brother sends the sponsorship letter agreeing to bear all the expenses of her stay, do we still need to show a strong bank balance on her name?
      5) How should she answer 'what is the purpose of your visit? (should she just say 'I am going to visit my son for 2 months' and leave it there?
      6) Any other details I should bear in mind?

From my brothers end, he needs to send
      1) Pay stub
      2) I - 134 (if he is sponsoring her trip??)
      3) Copy of his visa (he is yet to convert to H1-B visa; currently he is on OPT status - from student to employee stage I guess)

      Thanks in advance
      Haritha
