Hi,
I am expecting my baby in the third week of December and am planning to call my mom for help. She applied for passport on May 27. Its 3 months now but she has not got it yet. Unless she gets her passport, I am not able to block an appt for her. If I apply for tatkal now under the circumstance (saying daughter in maternity confinement), will that reflect in the passport? Because, visas are rejected when given this reason. So can the passport be expedited using this reason?

If you applied at chennai office (they can go to shastri bhavan ,I remember it is where I applied for the passport.)They can go to passport office and show them the itnerary saying that they are visiting USA and tickets are purchased already, So that they can move the application faster. That's how it worked for me back in 1998,
