  • Mom's visitor visa rejected ..again!

    Hi,
My mom's visa was rejected the second time on Tue (17th) at Chennai. She was visiting my sister and my brother-in-law was the sponsor.

The interview went sort of like this:
Q: Is your daughter (my sister) working?
A: Yes. she's a doctor at the ..place and name.
Q: When was the last time your daughter visited you?
    A:Early 2000.
Q: Where are all the pages of your daughter's passport?
She pointed to the copies of the first few relevant pages which she had carried and sister's permanent residence card. But they said that "a passport has 46 pages, so where are they"?

Before she could say anything they handed out the rejection letter.

Her in-laws had visited the US an year ago and they did not present all the pages of the passport but only the relevant ones.Others we spoke to since, had also shown only the relevant pages.

A bit of the background on Mom:

My mom is a widow. She has a pending Green card application, filed by her brother (who is a citizen) in 1994.She did not even have a passport back then( is that not a primary requisite0?But the INS acknowledged it and the processing (maybe) on.

So we suspect whether this pending application is causing the rejections, Apparently, she had all the requisite documents ( except the above mentioned pages of the passport) prescribed by this site and other 'experts', healthy assets and bank savings.

Though i know it's difficult to pin-point on a particular reason, as to why they reject visas.

Could you please throw some light on why it may have happened?
    a) Is it the pending green card applications? It's now 10 years on, is it time to check status on that? Now has these visa applications and rejections hampered her chances of obtaining a green card in the future?

    b) Or is it her widowed status as i've heard it is all the more tougher for widows to get thru?

    c) My sister having not visited India for 4 years and is that the reason for inquiring about the missing pages on her passport?

Please help. Thanks in advance to all.
    Mia.

    Passport pages

You should have copy of all the pages of the passport and not only the "relevent" pages. Please let them decide what is "relevent".

Incidently, in my parents application, the consulate officer saw only the copy of passport for all people in USA and nothing else.
