  • Self Sponsor Tourist visa for My mother

    Hi,
I have both B1/B2 and L1 valid visa in my passport. I have been in US earlier a few times in B1/B2 but never in L1.

I would like to take my Mother for a Tourist visa by doing a self sponsor based out of India. Pls let me know if anyone of you can share your thoughts.

    As of now:-
    My status -
L1 stamped..ready to go to US in August
    Can show my I797
I-94 (not applicable as I m still not in US)
Have Sufficient money in INR to do a sponsorship
    DS 156
DS 157 not needed (since she is more than 60 years old)
    HDFC receipt
    Passport
    IT returns (in India)
    Mom can show
    Property documents
    FD documents
    Locker details
    Car Documents
    Bank Balance (In India)
    Have 2 sisters

Is this enough for showing sponsor and enough ties back in India

Appreciate,if forus members can share their thoughts

There is no finite list of documents that would be considered enough for sure. Show as much as you can and hope for the best.

Successfully got Approval - Tourist Visa - Self Sponsor

          Hi,
To the benefit of all visa applicants, my case was I have both B1/B2 and L1 valid visa in my passport. I have been in US earlier a few times in B1/B2 but never in L1. And wanted to take my Mother for a Tourist visa by doing a self sponsor based out of India. And prepared the following: -

          Passport
          Photos
          HDFC Receipt
All the above (Goes without saying)
          DS 156 - Specifically mentioned for Q37 (Son - L1 Stamped)
          L1B - Approved Petition
          IT returns (in India)
          Property documents
          FD documents
          Locker details
          Car Documents
          Bank Balance (In India)
          Prepared a Tentative Itenary
Prepared a self attested Affidavit about our financial assets/including house value of furnitures.

We went to the interview today:-
He asked 3 questions to my Mom
          1) Why are you going to US
A - Tourism (No mention of meeting family/relative since m very much n India)

          2) How many children do you have
          A - X Boy and N Girl

          3) With whom would you stay after coming back from US as my dad is no more
A - Daughter who resides in Chennai

Basically the Q37 - L1 B Stamped did the trick, he checked my passport stamping which Mom carried with her.

And approved the Visa, he didnt check any of our documents, basically we were worried about the bank balance since no one knows what is the balance which the VO presumes is good.moreover ours was a self sponsor from India itself..

My sincerest Thanks to IMMIHELP (the site which ROCKS) and all the Forum members who are helping each other by sharing their experiences.

Guys without your suggestions, it wouldn't be easy.

All the best to all the Future VISA applicants

          GOD BLESS
