B2 Tourist Visa for Nicaraguan - Help Please!

A friend is trying to get a Tourist Visa at the US Embassy in Managua. Between jobs, he has time to visit the US, but may be temporarily unemployed when he has his interview.

To those of you who have gotten a US Tourist Visa from Nicaragua - Do you have any recommendations on how to make the best interview possible to get a Tourist Visa?
