  • Parents Visa Queries

    Hi All,
I have few questions regarding my parents visa. I would sincerely appreciate if someone can address my queries:
    1. My parents have a misspelt sirname in their passports. Do they need to get it corrected before applying for visa or can they attach any affidavit verifying their correct sirname
    2. I had already taken the HDFC receipt before noting that the sirname was incorrect. Will I have to forfeit the fee or can I use it if I happen to apply for new passports for my parents
    3. Do we need a CA letter verifying all property, bank accounts, shares, etc information?
    4. Finally, my parents are pretty old. Is there a provision wherein they can get the visa without visiting the embassy or if any of our relative has a US passport can he go along with them inside the embassy at the time of interview.
Please help me in addressing these concerns.
    Best Regards

1-2. Either get it corrected in the passport or contact VFS and they will fix the name to the spelling as in passport for you to take an appointment with the mis-spelt name.
    3. Your choice. You could.
    4. No, Yes, a USC can enter the consulate.

I am not a lawyer and you need to consult with one to validate any info posted on the forum and discuss your case specifics. H1b Question? Read the FAQ first.

      Thanks TXH1B

Thanks Sir for your prompt response.

Just couple of another related questions....since my Brother-in-Law is a USC, we were planning to send him along with my parents at the Delhi embassy. Can it have a negative impact at the time of interview or will the interviewer understand it.
Also, we have 4 siblings. 3 of us are here in US and one is in India who has recently got her visa to come to US. At the time of interview if the consular asks how many children are there in US...shall we answer 3 or say 4 and tell them the reason. I was thinking of saying 3. Also, can it be a risky affair since all of us are here in US for my parents to get visa.
      Thanks once again,
      Best Regards
