I want to apply for the B1/B2 visa and have an appointment for latter this month. I work and reside in the UK, but am applying from India as I can show ties and reason to return from India.
I have 8 days leave from work, because obviously if I take longer than I will eat into my allocated leave for the year - and going to the US would not be possible. I understand that the US embassy can keep your passport for unspecified amount of time. Which is not practical under any situation for someone working abroad!
I have my visa appointment for Monday, but need my passport back by Friday (at the latest) as I have to be back at work in the UK on Monday the following week.
- Has anyone else applied and gotten there passport back in this short time span?
- Will the VO take my circumstances into consideration?
- If they have not made a decision by Thurday, can I ask for my application to be cancelled and passport returned?
Thanks for your replies
