Who can be a sponsor ?

I have been in the US for just 1 month as of today (19th Aug 09).
Visa Type - H1b

Can I be a sponsor for my friend who would be travelling towards the end of Sept 09 on a visitors Visa ? I would be having only my August payslip at that point of time . My friend would be bearing most of the expenses but i may have to contribute a bit .

If you just came a month ago, do you have enough finances to sponsor your friend?

If your friend is going to take care of the expenses anyway, there is really nothing to sponsor by you.
