  • B-1/B-2 visa to Green Card...

    Good Evening,

My mother was granted only 2 months of vistor stay when she entered into US last week. I wanted to seek your advise with respect to the option available

    1. Apply for an extension of the period of stay beyond the 2 months

    2. Apply for her green card ( I am a US citizen)

    I have the following questions:

If applying for an extension are there any grounds for rejection?

If if apply for her Green card:

Can I apply for her green card while she is here ?

Can she stay beyond her 2 months after I apply for her green card?

How long does the green card processing take?

Will she be able to leave the country after she applies for her adjustment of status and before she gets the green card?

Thanks a lot for your time and help.

    Regards,

    Mithoon

Yes, this exactly was the reason she was given a short duration visa, that she is a potential immigrant. What is the reason of her visit?

If if apply for her Green card:

    Yes.

Can she stay beyond her 2 months after I apply for her green card?
Yes, if you apply for green card or apply for extension.

How long does the green card processing take?
See processing times on USCIS website.

Will she be able to leave the country after she applies for her adjustment of status and before she gets the green card?
No. I'm pretty sure she can't, but wait for a confirmation from other senior members too on this one.
Why so many blank lines in your text?
