  • In laws visiting USA for vacation...Need some advice!!

My wife and I are both working on H1B visa in the USA.
Her parents, grandmother and sister are planning to visit us for a short vacation. (Total 4 people).

This is the current situation of them all :-

    1) My father-in law and mother-in-law are working. (They have some property, savings etc in their name too)
    2) My sister-in-law has just finished college and is waiting to start a job in an IT company within the next 2 months. (Has her offer letter)
    3) My wife's grandmom is a widow (not working and has some property in her name, has sufficient bank balance with pension)
    4) They themselves are paying for their travel costs.

These are my questions to the forum:-

    1) Can they go together for the visa interview (Same date and time)? I am not sure if they are eligible for a group visa.

    2) I have heard they reject visas often for unmarried young girls (this concerns my sis-in-law)... is there any way we can make her case stronger?

    3) How best can i make their case stronger so that they all get a visa? They are just coming here for 1 month and I want them to make that point clear to the visa officer.

Quick replies will be greatly appreciated!!
    Thanks,
    Manoj

So your point is they have strong economic ties to their home country. The question is if they all apply together then how will they prove their social ties to home. After all you are generally required to show both economic and social ties.

Your sister-in-law's situation is complex because she is an adult, has completed her studies and has no job at the moment. She may be regarded as an apt candidate for immigration through marriage or to hunt for jobs while she is here.

She could consider waiting until she actually starts her job and has worked a year or so.

During their visa interview, her parents and grandmother could then try using her as their reason to return to India.

There's nothing you can do to make their case stronger.
