General questions about the courier

Suppose the visitor got the visa my questions are:

1) How many days does it take for the passport to come home via mail??

2) What if when the courier comes and no body is home. Will they try to contact the right person again some days later or passport will go back to the consulate.

I really appreciate if somebody could clarify the questions. Thanks.

1. Courier comes on next day. However, how soon consulate/VFS/TTS give the passport to courier varies.

2. As long as the person at home has receipt, they will give it to them. Else, they will come back again later.
