COS from B1/B2 to F1 , I-94 expiring

I came to US on mar 27 ,'09 on visiting visa (b2). Then I applied to unversities and got I-20 for the fall semester and applied for COS from B1/B2 to F1 on Aug 21. Receipt received.
my question is that my I-94 expires on Sept 26th'09 , what if my reply does not come till then from USCIS. Should I stay past my i-94 expiration date or should I wait till my decesion comes from USCIS even if it is after my I-94 expiration . Will I be "in status"
kindly reply as i am very confused and how long does it takes for the USCIS to process your Application once you have received a receipt.

What you are doing is considered fraud by USCIS unless you declared your intent to study earlier at PoE or at the visa application stage. If your COS gets denied your stay will be considered illegal from the day of I-94 expiry. Best will be to go back to your home country and apply for F1 visa there.
