Nephew visiting with mom - need help.

Hi!

My nephew is very interested in visiting the US with my mom, who is planning to visit next year. He is 11 years old and is in school. I will be sponsoring them both.

Does anybody have any experience with this? I read on this forum that its difficult for young people to obtain visas. But in his case, there is no danger of him obtaining employment. So, theoretically, they should not reject. Any ideas?

It is difficult to give firm answer whether he will get visa or not. It is subjective. You can try.

Kids below 14 qualify for drop box...

I would think he should be fine. I think getting a letter from his school will help which says that he has the permission to go on this trip and is expected to return back. Also, request for visa for him for the "permitted period" only.

I will ensure the letter from the school for his visa application.

As for kids below 14 qualifying for drop box - I think this clause requires both parents to have valid US visas.
