Visitors Visa for relatives only?

Hi. Is the Visitors Visa for relatives only, or can it be a friend?

It can be anyone, but generally it is very difficult to prove other relationships such as friend. Anyone can tell anybody is his/her friend and try to sponsor.

So you are saying the chances are slim? Even if I provide proof that I will sponsor this friend with expenses and the like?

Yes, chances are very slim.

I am not saying you will do that, but if that were easy, anyone can sponsor anyone by calling other person as the friend. Someone could litterally run business by sponsoring lot of people, bringing them to US and charge lot of money to them.

Also, you have only one set of parents(mother, father), while you can have unlimited number of friends. Things can go really crazy.
