I-9 issue

Dear Sir: I recently came to US after vacation and has been granted I-94 till 10/1/2009. My visa is valid till 9/30/2009. I carried along with my extended I-797 valid from 10/2/2009 to 5/27/2012. But officer at POE granted the I-94 till 10/1/2009.

Question: am I required to file extension.? Or I am legally okay to stay till 5/27/2012 as my extended I-797 kicks in from 10/2/2009.

You can only stay until your latest I-94 form which is 10/01/2009.
