A friend of mine in Nigeria has his appointment with the embassy in Nigeria in a couple of weeks. One of us is confused, and I'm trying to clear up the matter.
I read your webpage about "proof of U.S. citizenship". I recently obtained my first and only U.S. passport, and I am reluctant to give anyone a copy of it for any reason. I feel the same way about making a copy of my birth certificate.
Does my friend need copies of either one or the other of these documents to show the embassy in Nigeria that me, the person he will be visiting in the USA, is a citizen of the United States?
Please let me know, as the more I read, the more confused I become.
