Tourist Visa Question

Hello,

I was hoping you could answer a question for me. I live in the United States and my boyfriend, who is French, is trying to come visit for a couple of months this fall. We are aware that he can come for up to 90 days with a tourist visa, but he is interested in working for his French company during his time in the United States. Is he allowed to work at a distance for his company in France during his stay in the United States under a tourist visa?

So does this mean that as a visitor (non-US citizen), it's illegal to remain employed by your foreign (non-US) company during your visit to the US? Like telecommuting programmers or DBA's can't perform work for their foreign companies while traveling in the US? How does that work. Is this specified in law, or in legal rulings and precedences?

Just curious.
