Regarding Passport corrections

Hi,
I have booked an appointment at US Consulate , Chennai for my parents . The address in my father's passport is incorrect(My mother's passport has the present address and my father's passport has the native place's address). Also, the spousename field in my father's passport has only my mother's last name instead of the full name. Is it ok if my father makes these corrections in the passport before appearing for the interview ? The people in the passport office told my father that too many corrections in the passport many arouse doubts during the interview and might delay the process of obtaining the visa.

I wanted to know whether I can view cancellations without going through the "cancel/modify" link on tts website.

Could anybody please help me regarding this ?

No need to make those corrections in passport. Person can have any address. He might have moved recently or whatever.

You can't see cancellations without going through Cancel/Modify link.
