  • widow mother B1/B2 denied for 214 b

    Dear All,

    I need help...

My mother visa was denied under 214 b yesterday. They(US consulate Chennai) have asked 4 to 5 questions..
They have not even looked at my docs sent from here. Currently am in L1 A Visa.

    1) What purpose are you going to USA?
    Ans: Tourism

    2) Who is staying in USA and for which company is he working?
Ans: Son and working for xxx company.

    3) Since how long?
Ans: I am staying here since 5 yrs..but by mistake she said 8 yrs.

    4) How many kids do you have?
Ans: 2 sons...One is in US(me), other son is looking after fields. She again missed about my sister and she did not mention about her.

    5) Since how long your husband is no more?
    Ans: 12 yrs

    6) How much pension are you getting?
    Ans: 4000/-

That's it and they have given 214 b.

My mom may be bit nervous...am here only 5 yrs so how can she approach for the 2nd time?

Can I apply 2nd time soon?
Can she tell the Visa officer about the mistakes she made in the 1st interview?

    Please advice ....

    Thanks,
    Ravi

To me it seems the questions regarding you which was not answered correctly secondly about your sister, she needs to needs to prove strong ties back home in order to get a visa.
Probably a bit high on confidence and giving the right answer with proper elaboration and help her get through the interview.

    Best of Luck.

    Cheers....!!!

B2 for Widow - probability is less than 30%

General opinion from forums is that the chances for a widow to be granted a B2 visa depends on the sponsoring child's legal status in US, and given below is the order of most likely be granted to the most unlikely :

      1) L1 - since the stay is really short
      2) H1
      3) Citizen - 50-50
      4) Greencard - IMO , there are 70% rejections and the most unfortunate !!

Similar situation with my mother in law

though her visa hasn't been rejected. They made her fill DS 158 asking her to mention her height and weight details -- really weird and unheard of??

They have given her a pink slip under 221g. For your situation, I suggest go thru this:

        Thanks!
