Visitor Visa Information

Hello,

I am a financial aid rep that is attempting to resolve a Selected Service appeal for a student. He indicates that he was in the country on a visitors visa between the ages on 19 and 24. Now that he is a US citizen he does not have information confirming his status between those ages. Is this information available for him to retrieve?

How could the person on a visitors visa stay in the US for 5 years?

For a work visa do you know if they would have been required to register with selective service?
