Visitor Visa Drop box processing time

My parents applied for visitor visa through drop box on May 20th/2004. They still did not hear from Chennai Consulate yet. This is their 3rd time. They have been given 1 year multiple entry last 2 times.

1) My dad is above 60 and my mom is below 60. But they visited US last time from July 2003 - Nov 2003.
According to drop box criteria, my dad meets above 60 and had visa within last 12 months. My mom meets last 12 months criteria.
Should they have gone ahead and gone to Chennai?
2) Does any body know how long it is taking through drop-box from Chennai?
3) How long is it taking to take an appointment?

1. Yes, they both qualify for drop box.
2. 2-3 weeks.

Don't worry, it is normal

to have a 2-3 weeks processing time. Especially during this time of the year, the processing delay will be in consulate as their work load is high as a result of high volume of applications, which also includes student visa (Chennai consulate, in particular, is very busy during this time of the year).

Because of the same reason, you may not be able to get the appointment soon from ttsvisas.com website.
