Proof of Visa rejection

If my B2 visa application is rejected, will I get some sort of rejection letter from the US consulate (or some rejection stamp on passport).

I will need some proof of visa rejection to show to the people I am hoping to visit in the US.

Can I request the Visa Officer to give me something in case my visa is rejected.

All they will put is "Application received on this date" at the back of the passport.

You get a letter sometimes but not always. And that also, it may not have your name on it. Just general flyer.
