Birth certificate

Hi:

I am planning to invite my parents to the US and they are preparing to attend the interview process in Bombay.

your site lists that the original birth certificate of the sponsor needs to be submitted especially if you are applying at the Bombay consulate. Now my problem is that my birth certificate has my birthdate as Jan 23, 1976 where as my passport and other school records have Jan 24, 1976.

Will there be a problem if I dont submit it? is there any alternative?

Still submit the birth certificate. Also submit an affidavit explaining 2 different dates.

Thanks for your prompt response. A follow up question.

1. what should the affidavit state? I obvioulsy intend to have Jan 24, 1976 ( the one in my passport and other records) to continue in the records as my "official birth date".

2. WIll there be any questions as to how this happened? I dont want to give the impression that this was wantonly done.

1. It should describe the circumstances under which this happened. Such as your parents did not know your actual birth date, clerical mistake, mistake at school time or whatever.

2. There could be questions. That is why that affidavit.
