Mothers visa

Hi,
Please advise on the following...

1) I would like to bring my mother in Winter. Is it ok for her to apply for her visa and attend the interview? How long is the visa valid?

2) I would also like to bring my sisters. My father passed away few years back. How can I make the case stronger?

1. Visa is valid for as long as they give. If they give 6 months, it will expire before she comes in winter.

2. By showing strong financial ties to India.
