  • Another Interpreteur Question...please guide.

    Hello:

Only my mother speaks English...good English but not fluently. My father is best at Hindi and Gujrati.

I have concerns about sending them for interview in the English section, at the Mumbai Consulate, due to the officer asking my father any questions in English.

Also the last time they had applied for visa, the interpreteur at the Gujrati section messed up and did not convey all that my parents were saying to her to the consulate officer...very frusting for both my parents...and the visa was rejected.

    My question here is...

    1. If my parents go to the Gujrati section again with an interpreteur, is my mother allowed to convey her thoughts directly in English to the interviewing officer, while if any questions are asked to my father, he can reply in Hindi or Gujrati and then make use of the interpreteur?

    2.
I do not know how the intercom system works but I suppose any answers given over the phone can be heard by everyone sitting on the opposite side of the glass window, in that cubicle, on an intercom ?

    3.
Can we ask for an interviewing officer who knows both English and Hindi or English and Gujrati?

    Please guide...Thanks.

    1. Yes.
    2. There will be only one officer on other side.
    3. That would be too difficult.
