  • Inviting my parents for my graduation..

    Hi..
i am planning to invite my parents for my graduation. I have a doubt regarding the application
During the application it asks for the
    purpose of travel:
    Do i need to select
"Spouse/child of the person studying in the USA"
    "Tourism/family visit/All other purposes"

I am planning to invite my parents for my graduation .. Tourist visa.

    Plz let me know..

Thanks a lot in advance for ur cooperation...

So you are the person studying in the US.
The $64000 question is this: Would you under any circumstances say that your parents are your spouse and/or your child?

If the answer is NO, then obviously you choose: Tourism/family visit/All other purposes

The question is directed to the person residing in the US helping to fill out the forms or to the candidate applying for the visa and who will interview in the consulate for it?

Inviting my parents for my graduation.

Actually it is the person who attends the interview(My parents.).. I am not the one who is attending the interview. I am filling out the forms on behalf of my parents. So what should I select.
Is there any Visa difference between those two selection..

Spouse/child of person studying in the US

        Tourism/Family Visit/ All other purposes.

I think I am clear with my question..

You may be clear with your question but really isn't it a pointless one?

I cannot understand what is not clear here? Where is the possibility of any "doubt"?

Regardless of who fills up the application, it is your parents who will be interviewed. Believe me, I do understand that.

So again my question to you is:

Do your parents regard themselves as your spouse or child?

          No, obviously they don't.

Are they planning on coming here on a F2/student's dependent visa that is available only to the spouse or minor child of the person studying in the US?

No, they want a tourist visa.

And therefore, they pick the choice that says tourism/family visit.

So again where exactly is the lack of clarity in these choices?
