  • DS-156 questions

My parents are going for the interview together this week.
    1. Do they have to fill out 2 seperate DS-156 forms or just one since they are going together?

2.Is there a minimum limit of bank balance that they have to show proof of?

3.For the question, "Who will pay for your trip" they intend to put our name but in the invitation letter that we have already sent them,we haven't mentioned anything about bearing their ticket expenses. Will that create a problem?

4.For Q.no.22 in DS-156,should we specify any partcular date or month?

    Thanks in advance.

Both your parents have to fill out separate forms. This is very clearly stated in the website: each person has to fill in his/her own DS156 even if they are travelling together...

There is no particular bank balance figure they are looking for; they are looking for a good banking history (is what I read on the website) and suitable funds that would seem appropriate for people travelling abroad..

I guess as long as your invitation letter states that you will take care of their expenses when they stay with you, it should be okay. Let your parents put your name in.

You need not specify an exact date...a month and year will suffice.

      reply

for who will pay for the trip - I did "Self and Son-in-law".

Self as my F-i-l was paying for the air travel and I was bearing all expenses here.

I would suggest that you be clear ! If your parents are planning to pay for air travel - mention it as "Self and Son-in-law".
