  • Inviting wife for graduation ceremony

This thread is to share experiences and suggestions in regard to VISITOR VISA(B-2) for wives who have been invited for graduation ceremony by husband's who are on F-1 VISA and are not working on OPT or Internship.

I want to invite my wife for my Graduation ceremony in May 2010. I have an F-1 visa and not working on OPT or Internship. I work part time at my school on hourly basis. We applied for a F-2 (dependent visa) but got rejected thrice during this (2009) year. So as I am graduating in May 2010, we thought that we can try for a visitor's VISA and show them "Graduation ceremony" is the only purpose/reason for the visit.

Finally, let us know how many months before can she attend the VISA interview(B-2) showing the above reason. We want to schedule the interview as early as possible.

Please help us with you suggestions and experiences.

She can attend at any time but she must travel to the US before the expiration of the visa stamp. Therefore, if you apply too early and if they give a short duration visa stamp, it would expire before it is time for her to travel to the US.
