  • Mother went to interview on April 29, 2004

First of all thanks so much immihelp and all other users for your precious suggestions and ideas.

My mother went for interview on April 29, 2004 at 9.00 am.Her turn came up after almost half an hour.AN indian lady took her interview and my mother was asked a lot of question regarding myself and my dad(dad didn't go for interview).

After interview, she was told to provide addess to TT Service and was told that she will receive her passport within 1 week by mail.

As per this interview and providing address and information to TT guy, we are thinking that they have granted visa to my mom. But, we don't yet how long thats going to be untill we get the passport.

Please advise if they deliver passports during Saturdays or they just work Monday thru Friday.Whats their turnarond time for returning passport.Although my mother was given an inquiry number, i am just curiuos to know.Sorry abt this long message.

Thanks again for all of your help and support.

    Harpreet

        Visitor Visa Questions.

Yes, she was asked questions as below:

How many children do u have?
        WHere are they living?
How did your daughter go to USA?
Then asked to show the copy of my GreenCard.
        Is this your real daughter?
When did she get married? and when palace or hall?
When did she go to US after her marriage?
Was your son-in-law citizen at that time?

Then she started asking about my dad(govt. employee)

        What does your husband do?
        How much does he make?
When my mom gave her annual figure, she asked if this is the only source of income.
        When is your husband retring?

Then finally, she asked that do you want to go to US for short period of time? My mom replied "Yes".

She just looked at the paperwork sent by me, i sent all the paperwork as mentioned in this website. This website is really helpful.

Finally she was asked to provide address to TT Service and she will receive her passport in one week by mail.

Does this means that she has been granted a visa or it could be denial too? Please advise.

        Thanks,
        Harpreet

Definitely, if she's been told she will receive her passport by TTS courier, then the visa has been granted!
If it was a refusal, the passport would have been returned right then and there...

I guess how soon the passport reaches varies from city to city....for instance, people who live in Delhi (most people I've spoken to) have got it within 3 days maximum...whereas people in Mumbai and Chennai have had to wait for a week also (again, from what I've gathered from people I've spoken to)..
So if your mom hasn't got her visa by now; she can maybe give it a couple of more days and then call the number she's been given.
Make sure your mom has the receipt number etc, that has been give to her before she calls.

          Congratulations to your Mom!
