Old Conviction PLEASE advise.

Our family travel to the USA often. I have never declared the fact I had a conviction (not dishonesty) some 27 years ago. Indeed my family do not even know as it is something I wish to forget it is never ever mentioned. I live in the UK. What happens now? Do the authorities need to know and will they know if i dont say? As a matter of interest do they have access to UK records?? The offence was a cause of great embarressment and was kept quiet. I would die rather than my family find out. Please help as I am scared stiff of going on our next vacation.

I don't think US would have access to UK records like that.

It really depends upon what kind of offense that was.

I understand your situation, I too have a conviction some 32 years ago when I was a wild teenager but dont declare. My family dont know either. I think you will be ok just walk on through. After 20 years they wont bother im sure. Unless anyone knows different?

This seems to be a tricky one! What indeed does one do in this situation if you have a single conviction in the dim and distant past?? I also had one many years ago (not a prisonable offence) and have travelled to the States many times after and never declared. We are off on a cruise very soon and this question is of great concern. There is no way I would declare something from so long ago. Am I wrong???? There must be many people who dont want to broadcast a single mistake made many years ago

Thank you for your replies. Immihelp the offence was one of indecency (no point saying I was innocent as I was convicted). So you see why I dont want to mention it. It was a long time ago. It is something I do not ever wish to discuss with people I know. I am coming to the USA very soon. What will happen and what should I do.
