  • I am sponsoring for parents. Brother in US. Should I include him.

    Hi All,

I have prepared all the documents per IMMIHELP's advice. Nowhere I didn't get to mention about my brother who is in FL, doing research. He is just studying. Do I need to mention about him anywhere in the document that he can't sponser and I am the only sponsorer.

Do I need to get any letter / document from my brother too ?

As I am going to send the documents pretty soon, I would appreciate an early reply.

    Thanks,
    Ashok

If you look at DS-156 form, it asks whether you have any son/daughters in US. That is where your parents should answer yes about you and your brother.

Additionally, send the documentation regarding his legal status in US. This is additional document that you should send and it is mentioned in 'Sponsor Docs'.

      Thanks for the dynamic reply.
      a) Do you mean that in DS-156, I have to mention WORKING,STUDYING in Item 37.

      b) Is it better to carry my brother's passport copies too.

      Thanks for the advice.

      Warm Regards,
      Ashok.

I am sponsoring for parents. Brother in US. Should I include him.

Thanks for your reply. Last question to finish the thread. Can you please clarify if the mail I 'd drafted to the Consulate

requesting to grant Tourist Visa to my parents is good enough.

          Here it is :

I, Ashok Balaraman, work as a YYYY for YYY and earn $ZZZ per annum. I would like to invite my parents Mr. A & Mrs. B to visit

me for about four months, starting December 2004.

The purpose of their visit is social as well as tourism within United States. As my elder brother xxx , who is on F1 status,

doing research in University of xxx , could not support my parents, I am sponsoring for their tour to United States. During

their visit, they will stay with me at the above address, and I will bear all their expenses including the round trip air fare

to United States, food, housing, travel within United States, medical insurance and all their other personal expenses.

Both my mother and father are Government Employees and still have 7 years and 2 years of service before retirement. Also my

father has his mother, who is 80 years old & two nephews aged 19 & 16 as fully dependent. They live together with my mother

          and father.

I will make sure that my parents leave United States before the expiration of their authorized stay. I will also personally

make sure that they will not become public charge on the part of the United States government.

I humbly request you to grant them the tourist visa.

Please feel free to contact me by telephone or e-mail if you have any questions.

          Thanking you,

          Ashok Balarman
