b1/b2-given 221g yellow slip

my parents appeared for tourist visa interview at the delhi consulate on 21st dec 2009.
no docs were checked and general questions were asked which they answered.
the lady told them that there visas have been approved and kept there passports and asked them to wait.
they were then given a yellow form (221g) and told that they will recieve there visas within 4-6 weeks as some administrative processing needs to be done.
My mother has recieved her passport with the visa stamp within a week but my father's status still shows pending.
what could be the reason for this?
My father is 70+ could this be causing a delay?
has anyone experienced anything like this?

My father is in the same situation. He appeared for the B2 visa interview (mumbai) on 3 dec and got yellow 221. I guess we cannot do anything except waiting for their e-mail.

My dad has got back yellow slip and also the passport. Wht does this mean visa rejection or administrative processing?

My parents had gone to mumbai consulate for visitor visa interview. My mom got the visa but my dad got back his passport and a yellow 221g with pending administrative processing section checked.It also says that check here for updates with the CEAC barcode(Visa application code)

My dad has retired from an oil company as an officer. The VO did not refuse the visa but said its pending and it is a required step from their side. Once we see our CEAC barcode in the updated list on the website above, we are asked to submit the passport, 221g along with the envelope.

So now I am wondering
1. Is this 221g because of his past job?
2. how long would this admin processing takes?
3. Will they also email us or is it their new process in mumbai consulate that we have to keep checking on the website above
4. If anyone else has faced the same situation please let me know their experience
