invitation letter

I'm Dr.Prasad chandran from India. I will be appearing for a b2 visitor visa to the US in a few days time for the purpose of writing an exam. My brother is holding a H1B visa currently. My mother is currently bearing the finances of my current trip. Do i need to produce an invitation letter from my brother eventhough he isnt my sponsor?? do i have to produce an invitation letter just to visit his place? kindly reply
