221g pink form for visitors visa application

My father (64)attended visitors visa interview, he was asked to fill questionaire and D 157 and handed 221g form, but did not ask to send any documents. He was told to check the status in 3-4 days in the website and the whole administrative process can take upto 2 wks.

Looking at the Pink form.. it states that application process is pending further review of the documents. I am confused because they did not ask for further documents. Did this happen to anyody else, where they were told to check the status online and not submit further documents with regards to Pink221g form???

my father 65 also got yellow 221g in early march
for visa renewal....
