Hi,
Actually my parents are planning to visit USA in march 2005 and they have appointment in december2004.actually my parents have different surnames in their passport.will that be a problem?and is it ok to apply for visa 4 months before their visit?thanx in advance.

That's ok to have different surnames.

Yes, that is OK to apply 4 months before. Only time someone could run into trouble is if visa stamp expires before intended visit date.
