Any advise 221(g)

First time my parents went TO US embassy, New Delhi, They were asked to bring back copy of my US passport and Indian passport (I am US citizen) and their VISA was declined under section 221(g).

Yesterday my parents went with my Indian and US passport, they were told that embassy need to have clearance from USA before they can be issued a Tourist VISA.

They told my parents that US embassy will call them when they have recieved clearance from USA and it will take a month or so.

Please advise, I do not understand whats going on.

Did you get a reply from the embassy ? And if yes, how much time did it take ?
