  • Original Birth Certificate in Regional language

    Hi Immihelp,

I am inviting my aunt (mother's sister) on visitors visa. She will be going to Mumbai US consulate for interview. As per the information on this site, I am suppose to send my original birth certificate as I am the sponsorer.

My original birth certificate is in regional language. Will it be ok if she takes only the original certificate (which is in regional language)? OR should she take an affidavite from a court in India wherein the original birth certificate information is translated in English?
If so, is there any format (for birth certificate affidavite) available on net?

Please let me know ASAP as I have to send my documents soon.

Thanks a bunch in advance for all your help and advice.

    - Nan

She should get her birth certificate translated to be safe.

No need for any format. When you go to civil court, there will be lot of lawyers roaming around. Ask any of them. They will get it translated verbatim and get notarized. Use that.
