Hi
My parent's B2 visa got rejected in early 2009 - they were planning on taking a group tour to US and later visit me for a couple of weeks (I am in US on L1). Their trip was self-sponsored, but they had mentioned the fact that I was in US while filling out DS-156. They forgot to take my birth certificate to the visa interview because of which visa got rejected.
They are planning to reapply again this year - again for a group tour followed by brief visit to me. My questions are -
1.) Should they avoid mentioning the fact that I am in US this time around to avoid any complications? Will omiting this information in DS-156 cause any issues? My guess is that since consulate will have information about their previous visa rejection & can easily ascertain that I am in US (using my passport details from last time around)...its best to present the correct facts.
2.) As their trip is still self-sponsored, do I just need to provide following documents (For parents visiting a child resident in the U.S.) :
- My original birth certificate.
- Photocopy of all pages of my passport.
3.) Do I need to provide sponsoring documents to increase their chances of getting visa?
This site is a great source of info...looking forward to some responses!
Thanks
Vikram
