  • Campus Visit on B2 Visa

    Hi All,

I need to consult this with you guys. A month ago, I applied for a B1/B2 Visa and was questioned by the VO regarding the purpose of my visit - to which I answered with "holiday". I didn't specify my main agenda of coming to the US for campus visit, because at that time, I have not finalized my schedule with the Admissions Offices. (I was afraid they would ask for proof letter). My visa application was then rejected under 241(b). I was quite shocked actually, because the interview was very short, and I thought things were going just fine!

I am planning to re-apply next week, but this time I will go with B2 Visa instead of B1/B2. I have also done better preparation this time (collecting supporting documents, and hopefully will answer the interview questions more firmly). I really hope luck will be on my side!

Have any of you experienced similar cases like this? I would appreciate if you could share your two cents on this.

    Many many thanks in advance.

    Best,

    saufari

You need to prove strong ties to your home country - prove that you'll return back after the visit.

Your job, monthly income, marital status etc will play a major role here. Even if it is not asked in interview, but it does helps VO to decide to give you visa or not.
