  • Is my SSN required to be declared anywhere?

I'm gathering documents for applying for a Visitor Visa for my parents. I was wondering if it is okay to black out the Social Security Numbers that appear in my tax forms and pay stubs. I'm a bit concerend with security and privacy issues.

Is it okay to black out the SSN without offering an explanation? Or is it helpful to leave it in there?

    Thanks.

    Don't do that.

Your papers are going to be only with your parents. Consular officer will just look at it and give it back to them. They don't keep anything. (Even if they did, nothing to worry about. They are not going to do anything bad with it.)
