  • USA B1/B2 tourist visa 6 months stay, going back for a week in between in emergency

    hi,

my parents intend to stay with me for 6 months in USA on B1/B2 multiple entry visa. however, they may have to go back to India once in between for about 10 days due to some yet undecided family event.

if i book their tickets for 6 months right now and they travel back for 10 days in between (on a separate ticket that i will book only in case the event is finalized) and re-enter USA again, will they have immigration problems when they re-enter?

i read on other threads on this forum that it may be a problem for parents who stay for longer times on tourist visa and revisit frequently.

    thanks

Cant say for sure. It depends upon the CBP officer mostly.

When did they entered USA & when are they leaving for 10 days (how long they have stayed in USA by that time)?

The reason for any possible issue is that people tried doing this to get another 6 months I94 for them - CBP officer can question your parents upon their re-entry. If you are not intending to have them renew their 6 month of stay, then your parent can respond to CBP officer to issue the same I94 number & same expiry date.
