A Dilemma

Hi Guys
I'm currently on J-1 Visa(salary~50K) & my spouse is on J2 & working(salary~18K). We want to sponsor my family & in laws for visit to US. I have couple of queries if somebody can help me with that:
1. Can I sponsor(I-134) both the families(3+2) during less than 1 month gap?
2. If I sponsor(I-134) them then can they go for interviews within 20 days gap to the same embassy in India?
3. What's the difference between sponsoring(I-134) and inviting a person to US.
Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

3. Sponsoring means taking responsibility of expenses.
