return ticket

My parents got visa for one year and I'm about to purchase a round trip ticket to USA and back to India. Their planned stay here will be for about 8 - 9 months. My question is, If I purchase a open ticket for their return journey. Will this be valid after 6 months.

Anybody, Kindly clarify this.
