visitors visa help urgent

I came to US on L1B visa, my visa got expired on 05Feb2010 and my I-94 is valid till March 2012. I have contacted the immigration dept. of my company and they said I need not apply for L1 extension until 6 months before the date on I-94. can i Sponsor Visitor visa for my inlaws on the bases of I-94?So how do I proceed in sending the papers for my father in law and mother in law. I would also like to know the different documents to be sent to them.. Does documments required for the visitor visa vary on the type of sponsor's visa (L1,H1)?

You need valid L1 status to legally stay in the U.S. The visa stamp is used only for traveling in and out of the U.S.
