  • US contact or Organization name in DS 160

    Hi,
we are a family of three, Indian Citizens staying in Canada, as Permanent Residents. When applying for a tourist visa to the US online, I noticed that we need to enter a US contact name. We do not have relatives of friends in the US and we have not made definite plans on what to do when visiting the US. We want to plan once we have the visa.
If I select " do not know" for the US contact, I have to enter the Organisation name. What shall I enter there? If I put in a name there, then I have to enter the address and phone number of the organization. I am not sure what to enter there. Please help.

You can put hotel contact information. Plan where you'll go the day you land, in advance. In fact, if you are asked to appear for an interview, you will be asked what you'll do there (it's a standard question). You should do some pre-planning, so you have something to say, and it does sound like the truth.

Are you sure canadian PRs need a visitor visa? I once went to Canada with a friend who had only a green card. I imagine the deal ought to be reciprocal.

Canadian PRs need to get a tourist visa..
can I put in a hotel address even though I haven't booked it? I will finalize plans only once I have the visa..
The plan is to go to New York, visit the tourist places, stay at an Airbnb and so on.
When I put in some hotel address in the application, will they cross check that with what I have actually booked, at the border?

USCIS specifically suggest NOT to do any bookings before securing a visa. Neither do they check your bookings or contact hotel to verify your booking.

You just need to show that you have sufficient funds to book tickets & stay (hotel or AirBnB) for your whole visit & after support yourself after return.

          Thank you so much!
          I now have 2 questions :
          1. After completing the DS 160 form for myself, I selected the "create family application" and do I enter all the information on my spouse and child separately? do we all have different DS 160 forms?
          2. How can I fix appointments for us ( for the same time) at the US consulate in Toronto?

Yes, one DS160 form for each applicant.

Add all family members using one single login ID & then book appointment - everyone will get the same slot.
