  • DS-160 & Visa re-application related question

    Hi,

My sister and her family had applied for B2 tourist visa in Mumbai consulate but were rejected on grounds of 214(B).

    1) Will it help if they reapply separately and not as a family i.e my sister goes along with kids, and my bro-in-law goes for interview alone ?

    2) While filling up the DS-160 form , they made some mistakes. Can they resubmit another DS-160 form with correct information and use the second CEAC bar code instead of the first one while scheduling interview. I guess information in the first DS160 form will not be visible to the consulate officer. Is it correct ?

    Thanks.

    1. It does not matter.
    2. Yes, they should use the correctly filled DS-160 form. They should always answer all the questions truthfully and should not try to manipulate any answers as it would only hurt rather than help.

      Thanks immihelp,

Just one more question... If my brother in law has he visa interview in April first week and mentions to VO that he intends to travel in June, is in possible that he gets a post-dated visa ?

Visa duration is up to the VO officer. However, they would generally give 6 months or more visa. Therefore, it should not be a problem.
