  • Parents visit - Sponsorship question

I am on a L1(B) visa in the US for about 6 months now, with my wife. I am planning on bringing my parents for a tourist visit in Mar'05 for about 3 months. I was wondering whether it is necessary for me to sponsor them or whether they can specify in their application that they are sponsoring their own trip (they have sufficient finances to cover the trip cost). The reason I dont want to say I am sponsoring them is that my bank balance is not sufficient to show the suggested required amount ($10,000), though I will be taking care of most of their expenses when they are here.

If its ok for them to say they are sponsoring themselves, what are the documents that I need to send them?

    Thanks in advance,
    Sanjay.

$10,000 is not required. There is no hard and fast rule. If you can show you have money to support them(whatever their expenses may be), it would be good enough. Something like $5,000 is OK too.

Even though they can sponsor themselves, it would be better if you send them sponsorship papers. It will make thier case stronger.
